  • The section in black is made using a lacquer decoration technique, namely "Ishi-me- nuri", while the section in silver-grey at the centre of the tray is made of tin powder utilising the "maki-e" technique.  It depicts "The Fairy Fisherman", a painting by Huang Shen, one of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou from Qing Dynasty, 18th Century*. The poem is engraved on the tray using "Chinkin" technique describing a fisherman who enjoys his life -  drinking and staying happy with destiny despite adverse weather at times.
