Featuring lacquer work by the following artists

Stream of Life Series
MA Gaoxian ⾺⾼賢, China
MA's series The Fountain of Life considers the breast as a cross-cultural symbol of beauty, motherhood, and life. Using lacquer – a medium characterised by its warmth and nurturing process – he captures the essence of feminine curves and vitality. This work juxtaposes the tactile qualities of lacquer with an archetypal form, inviting viewers to reflect on the interplay between visual experience and the flow of life, warmth, and memory.

Silhouette Series
Yoshihiko MURATA 村⽥佳彥, Japan
MURATA’s sculptural works, crafted from maple wood, exhibit a meticulous attention to detail. The designs feature slender lines and surfaces that create silhouette-like effects, allowing viewers to appreciate the sculptures from various angles. Each piece invites contemplation and exploration, revealing new perspectives with each observation.

Image Series
YAO Bangliang 姚邦亮, China
YAO’s lacquer work are brilliantly created from upcycled egg crates, transforming them into stunning artistic substrates. His practices delve deeply into the properties of materials and their significance in contemporary language. His creations, primarily wall pieces, challenge the boundaries between sculpture and painting. The rustic style imbues his work with strength while simultaneously revealing the paradoxical nature of lacquer art. Through this intricate interplay, YAO invites viewers to reconsider the relationship between form, texture, and meaning in modern artistic expression.

Abundance Series
LIANG Xingmei 梁杏媚, China
LIANG innovatively crafts this series of works “Abundance” using 3D printing techniques to create forms inspired by the rejuvenating power of spring. The surfaces are meticulously lacquered layer by layer, adhering to traditional methods that involve countless layers and extensive polishing. This detailed process captures a moment of renewal and vitality, embodying the essence of spring’s transformative energy.
