Visit us at Fine Art Asia to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this art fair in Hong Kong! Our exhibition will highlight inventive approaches by contemporary lacquer artists who are pushing boundaries with unusual materials and techniques. Many featured artists have gained international acclaim, with their works included in the permanent collections of leading museums.
Be sure to visit the special-themed pavilion, "CRAFT Now!", curated by our founder Susanna Pang, which promises to showcase cutting-edge craftsmanship. Many pieces are making their debut in Hong Kong at this pavilion.We look forward to welcoming you to the fair!

Hikoju Makie (彦十蒔絵) is a contemporary Japanese lacquer studio founded by the late Takashi Wakamiya (1964–2025). He served as Cultural Exchange Envoy of the Agency for Cultural Affairs (2014), The studio’s works were in the permanent collections of V & A Museum (UK) and the Museum of Lacquer Art (Germany).

Lacquer Art Experience Session - Tangram Puzzle with Inlay Decoration

Lacquer Art Atelier Contents 漆藝研習內容
This workshop focuses on creating designs and patterns. Participants are encouraged to prepare their sketches in advance. You will gain a deeper understanding of the handling and application of materials through demonstrations of professional techniques, including designs, inlaying eggshell and mother-of-pearl, lacquering, and polishing.
Each participant will complete a 14cm x 14cm "Qi" lacquered tangram puzzle
重點放在拓印畫稿的創作，學員需提前準備畫稿。我們將示範漆板製作、設計、蛋殼及螺鈿的貼附、上漆和推光等專業技術，幫助學員深入理解材料的處理和應用。每堂課均有實踐時間，鼓勵學員動手創作，提升技能。
每位學員可完成一幅14cm x 14cm 的「漆」巧板 作品。

HKD 460 per session (2.5 hours), which includes complimentary admission to Fine Art Asia, materials and tools for use at the workshop, and a specially made tangram puzzle. Tutors 導師： LI Chuanyi & GUO Zhangle 李釧毅及郭章樂
Li Chuanyi, born in Chaozhou, China, and raised in Hong Kong, obtained her Bachelor's degree from the Department of Lacquer at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 2019. She moved to Beijing in 2020. In 2021, Li Chuanyi established a studio with her partner, Guo Zhangle, in Beijing to promote lacquer art that adds depth to daily life. Guo is a veteran artisan who has been practicing lacquer craft since 2012.
李釧毅出生於中國潮州，成長於香港。她於2019年在四川美術學院獲得漆藝系的學士學位。2020年李釧毅移居北京，在2021年與合作夥伴郭章樂在北京成立了工作室，目標是要為日常生活制作出具深度的漆藝器物。 郭章樂是一位資深工匠，自2012年以來一直從事漆藝製作。
The Gallery by SOIL is dedicated to presenting the art of lacquer from Asia. It is probably the first gallery in Hong Kong which brings together lacquer masters and artists of diverse cultures, blending the traditional with the contemporary to showcase variety in the discipline.
