Hanako Gejo 下條華子 was born in 1980 in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. She earned her M.F.A. from Kyoto City University of Arts in 2006. Since then her works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Japan, China, Korea, Turkey and most recently at Fine Art Asia in Hong Kong. She is currently a part-time lecturer at Kyushu Sangyo University

 

Her lacquer creations are attractive for their chromatic colours, mixed with inlay of shells, gold leaf and metal powder conveying elegance and balanced beauty. She is well versed with different lacquer techniques. Her sculptural form has a voluminous shape with a feminine touch which has become her signature design.
